Juneve Eastman Vintage Australian Pottery Vase (Tall)
✨ RARE FIND: A vase from the same collection sold at auction for $220 in 2022.
This rustic vintage vase was crafted by Australian potter Juneve Eastman, whose work beautifully blends industrial design training with the earthy traditions of stoneware pottery.
After studying industrial design at RMIT, she turned her hand to pottery and, by 1973, had established herself in Deniliquin, NSW, creating wheel-thrown domestic stoneware finished with glazes made from local wood ash. By 1981, she was co-running the Karinja Craft Gallery in Deniliquin, contributing to Australia’s flourishing regional craft culture.
Sourced from Yarrawonga on the NSW–Victoria border, this Australiana vase features a tall cylindrical form with ribbed sides and a playful glaze application that allows the raw stoneware base to peer through in places. Like much of Eastman’s work, it is both functional and expressive, embodying the quiet elegance of Australian studio pottery in the 1970s.
Signed by Juneve on the base, alongside her signature impressed emu mark - a detail collectors will instantly recognise - this one-of-a-kind watertight find is not only a beautiful vessel for fresh and dried florals, but also a piece of Australian handmade history that captures the creativity and collaborative spirit of its time.
