Vintage Australian Stoneware Pasta Canister by Cannie Ridge Harcourt Pottery
This vintage Australian stoneware pasta canister by Cannie Ridge Harcourt Pottery is a beautiful blend of everyday function and local studio pottery heritage. Featuring a softly speckled glaze and a hand-painted blue and brown gum nut eucalyptus motif, the piece captures the relaxed, nature-inspired aesthetic that Australian pottery is so loved for. The base carries the makerโs mark, confirming its authenticity.
Cannie Ridge Pottery was founded by Allan Letts, who began his pottery journey at Bendigo Pottery at just 13 years old in 1940. In 1976, Allan established Cannie Ridge Pottery in nearby Harcourt alongside his wife, son, daughter-in-law and a small team of young potters, growing the studio into a thriving local production that employed up to 16 people during its peak before closing around 1990.
Originally designed for storing pasta, this stoneware beauty is perfectly sized to keep spaghetti fresh while sitting on display beside the stove for easy reach. Its tall shape and organic design allow it to double effortlessly as a vase, making it equally stunning filled with fresh blooms, dried flowers or native foliage.
A versatile, honest piece that suits country kitchens, vintage-inspired homes, or calm, lived-in interiors. Useful, tactile, and full of Australiana nostalgia.
